The history of Holiday tree comes from Germany. In the 16th century German Christians brought into their homes the decorated trees. Some was built wooden pyramids and decked them with candles and evergreens. Candles was added to a holiday tree by Martin Luther in the same time. Idea for candles arised in the time of walk. Martin Luther one December evening noticed light of stars shining amidst plants.

It’s worth to know that the most 19th century residents of America treated holiday trees as oddity. The first record about holiday tree in that area appeared in 1830s and tell about German settlers as a proprietors of Christmas tree. Some say that the German settlers decorated holiday trees even in 1747. But, in the 1840s Christmas trees were seen as symbols of pagan and they were not accepted by the most of Americans.

The tradition of Christmas carols

The definition of „carol” in fact means dance or a song of joy and praise. Initially carols were songs of pagans those were sung at the Winter Solstice celebrations when people danced round stone circles. Early Christians inspired pagan songs and prepared Christian songs. In 129 the song „Angel’s Hymn” was popular and sung at a Christmas service in Italy. Other Christmas hymn was written in 760 for the Greek Orthodox Church. Then more and more composers in Europe started writting Christmas songs. But majority of Christmas songs was written in Latin and because of that a lots of people weren’t intrested in those things.
